Session 3 (2/25) - Management Systems and Leadership: Effective leadership in Head Start requires understanding the interconnected systems that drive program quality. This session introduces you to comprehensive frameworks for managing your organization's complex operations.
Building Your Leadership Foundation
The Management Systems Wheel provides a holistic view of the eight integrated systems that must work together seamlessly: Fiscal Management, Facilities and Learning Environments, Eligibility/Recruitment/Selection/Enrollment/Attendance, Child Screening and Assessment, Communication, Professional Development, Ongoing Monitoring and Continuous Improvement, and Community and Self-Assessment. We'll explore the Leadership and Governance Toolkit, giving you practical resources for strengthening governance structures, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and building effective partnerships between management, board members, and policy council.
Session 4 (2/26) - Monitoring, Data and Storytelling: The final session focuses on how to use data systems and monitoring protocols not as powerful tools for demonstrating your program's impact and driving continuous improvement. We will cover the updated monitoring review protocols and what reviewers will examine during site visits. Next, we’ll learn how to leverage data systems, such as the tools that track enrollment, outcomes and program performance metrics. We’ll use that data to demonstrate progress and identify areas of improvement. Finally, we’ll transform that data into compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders and funders. You'll leave this session with practical strategies for preparing for monitoring reviews, using data dashboards effectively, and communicating your program's value to diverse audiences including parents, community partners, and funding agencies.
