The Wonder Of a Wildflower: A watercolor workshop

with Jessika Leake

Jessika Leake is an atelierista with the Worcester Child Development Head Start Program, where she has worked since 2016. Her connection to the program started eighteen years ago when her own children were students. A firm believer that every individual is an artist, Jessika partners with children and teachers to inspire and unlock creative intuition and expression. She advocates for STEM learning, empowering critical thinking skills and integrating arts into the curriculum to create a holistic educational experience. She assists teachers in developing and implementing meaningful project work, and is passionate about documenting the learning processes in a variety of ways. She resides in Auburn with her family and enjoys spending time at the beach, hiking, reading, writing poetry, taking photographs, and creating various forms of art.

During this session, we will look at flowers and landscapes, exploring the delicate beauty and vibrant colors that nature has to offer. Participants will learn techniques to capture the essence of flowers in various ways, guided by an atelierista. You will have the opportunity to experiment with different brush strokes, color blending, and composition, all while enjoying the calming and beautiful atmosphere of the gardens.

Guests are invited to participate in a self-guided garden walk through New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill. This experience is designed to complement our shared focus on healing, wellness, and renewal by offering a peaceful space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature.

As you explore the Garden at your own pace, you’ll encounter vibrant seasonal blooms, quiet wooded paths, and thoughtfully designed landscapes that encourage mindfulness and restoration. Guests may use this time for personal reflection, meaningful conversation, or simply to recharge—honoring the important work you do each day in supporting children, families, and communities through Head Start.
