Who is Dr. Desiree Del Zio?

Dr. Desiree Del-Zio is the Founder and Principal Consultant of D.E.&C Consulting, LLC, bringing more than 35 years of experience in early childhood education, Head Start, nonprofit leadership, organizational development, and systems improvement. Her career began in direct service to children and families and expanded into program management, quality assurance, data analysis, leadership development, and large-scale organizational change. This comprehensive perspective allows her to connect federal requirements and organizational strategy with the day-to-day realities of delivering high-quality services to children, families, and communities.

Dr. Del-Zio has extensive experience supporting Head Start and Early Head Start programs in the design, implementation, and evaluation of effective management and monitoring systems. Her federal monitoring experience includes facilitating more than 100 reviews, providing operational leadership and oversight for hundreds of additional reviews, contributing to the development and implementation of federal monitoring protocols, and training monitoring professionals. Through D.E.&C Consulting, she helps organizations strengthen governance, leadership, compliance, data practices, continuous improvement, monitoring readiness, and organizational capacity. Known for translating complex requirements into practical and sustainable solutions, Dr. Walker equips leaders and teams to move beyond compliance, strengthen accountability, and build systems that support lasting program excellence.
