Advocacy Day 2024

On February 14th, 2024, Head Start staff, parents, and community supporters joined Massachusetts Head Start Association for our annual Advocacy Day at the State House in Boston, MA. The Great Hall of Flags was filled with Head Start love, from the sea of red attire to the speakers in support of the work Head Start does, providing quality care and education to the most vulnerable children and families in the state. With over 300 attendees from across the commonwealth, the success of the event cannot be overstated. Legislators additionally took the time to meet with their local constituent programs to learn more and understand what they needed to continue these impactful and necessary services. The event was led by MHSA’s Executive Director, Michelle Haimowitz, and included guest speaker Marie-Ange Delimon, a Holyoke Chicopee Springfield Head Start parent.  We are thankful to have Head Start champions Senator Keenan, Senator Rodrigues, and Speaker Mariano take the time to speak at the event, some even noting their personal experience with Head Start.
